A 3D robot is a mobile robot that can travel in three dimensions, the two horizontal dimensions and vertically.
The Alphabot® robot from Alert Innovation is an example of a 3D robot. It is uniquely able to transform from a mobile robot operating in two horizontal dimensions into a vertical lift, moving itself and its payload to any storage or workstation elevation, where it can then resume horizontal operation.
